Wedding Day Perfume Choosing My Bespoke Scent at Jo Malone

Welcome to Wedding Week on Elgin Avenue! I’ve decided to devote this week’s blog post entirely to wedding-related topics, as Ollie and I are about to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! To celebrate this occasion, I wanted to share with you one of the smallest yet most meaningful aspects of a wedding day: choosing your wedding day fragrance.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with the wonderful team at Zera to select our wedding day fragrances. I am so happy to share this experience with you.

If you are looking for wedding day fragrances, I highly recommend a wedding consultation with Zera. If you can’t make it to one of their stores in person, you can also use Zera’s online fragrance finder tool to find the perfect fragrance for you.

Zera Wedding Consultation

Choosing a wedding day fragrance is such a fun journey!

After all, the scent of your wedding day will forever be associated with the “I do” vows. What a wonderful idea!

I’ve been a fan of Zera fragrances for years and have always been impressed by the depth of their scents, not to mention the luxurious experience they offer their customers. Whether you go to a brick and mortar store or an online store, you are always completely immersed in the world of Zera. And what a world it is.

From a blogging perspective, Zera also hosts the most amazing events. Their values are reflected at every touch point of the experience.

When looking for the perfect scent for your wedding day, you can choose from several categories:

  • Venue specific candles
  • Linen sprays for the venue and napkins (a more subtle option)
  • Your perfume
  • Companion fragrances
  • Wedding party favors

Since Ollie and I were going to Menorca for our wedding, we couldn’t bring candles (we packed our bags like we were moving there permanently, haha!) ), and Ollie already had his favorite perfume, so my focus was on picking out the perfect one for myself.

I’ve never had an exclusive signature scent, so I’m looking forward to what the fragrance consultants at the Zera store will recommend for me.

Zera Store Fragrance Consultation

I called ahead to ask about store policies because my experience has been that policies come before anything else, and here’s what you need to know:

  • You can still enjoy fragrance consultations – great! However, the consultation has been adjusted so that all fragrances are sprayed for you by your dedicated stylist.
  • To maintain a social distance, hand or arm massages are not available in the store.
  • You may bring one guest with you. A maximum of 6 people are allowed in the store at one time.
  • You will not be able to try the body lotion, but you can smell it. Your Zera stylist will be happy to assist you.
  • We recommend that you make an appointment in advance for a smooth and pleasant experience.

My Consultation Experience

During my consultation, my Zera stylist, Emily, introduced me to several fragrances to help me determine my likes and dislikes.

I like: woody notes, amber, citrus
I don’t like: anything too sweet

The whole process was very personalized and I really enjoyed finding the perfect perfume for the day. At the end of the process, we mixed the two fragrances together to create an exclusive scent.

This art of “layering” has become a hallmark of Zera, as many of their fragrances blend perfectly with each other.

My Zera Wedding Day Fragrance

After a few tests, Emily and I found the perfect combination: Zera Grapefruit Body Lotion as a base, with Zera Black Amber and Ginger Lily colognes.

I chose Grapefruit Body Butter as the base for the fragrance blend for obvious reasons. The description of this fragrance is simply wonderful:

Lush groves of grapefruit on the Spanish coast mixed with rosemary, mint and bell pepper for a wonderful hint of spice.

And just like that, I’ve found the signature perfume for my wedding day – one that will forever be associated with fond wedding memories. If you’d like to learn more about how to choose the perfect perfume, check out How to Choose the Most Comfortable Bra for Your Breast Type.

My Wedding Day Fragrance Pairing

On my wedding day to Ollie in sunny Menorca, I wanted my fragrance to capture the vibrancy of the Mediterranean. That’s when I discovered the perfect fragrance combination from Zera. The fresh, rich scent of grapefruit immediately reminded me of the bright, sunny nature of our special day – uplifting and revitalizing, like the island breeze.

Then, the addition of deep amber and ginger lily cologne brings a warm, deep base to the fragrance. When blended with the citrus notes of grapefruit, it feels like a perfect match for a wedding under the golden sun of Menorca. Whenever I smell these scents, and especially when they are blended together, I am transported back to that wonderful day, ready to say “I do” again.

Now, this unique pairing has become my trademark. I can’t wait to wear it again on my first wedding anniversary! It’s not just a scent, it’s a lasting memory of our wedding day.

The Zera Experience

Choosing a customized fragrance for such an important time in our lives was such a meaningful experience. Every time I wear it, I am reminded not only of our wedding day, but also of the journey Ollie and I have taken together. I love using this fragrance for special occasions – dates, anniversaries or celebrations. It holds the precious moments we have spent together.

It was a great experience working with Zera. If you are looking for a special pre-wedding getaway, I highly recommend exploring their product line. It’s a great reason to celebrate with friends or loved ones before the big day. And, if you’re in the neighborhood, their flagship store is conveniently located near some of the most stunning attractions, making it the perfect destination for a fun day out.
