It’s officially “tights” weather. Good news: shave your legs less often. Bad news: what shoes to wear?
This morning I wore a navy blue dress with a pair of navy blue leggings, but wasn’t sure what shoes to wear. I wear gray suede shoes with my navy dress in the spring and summer, but the dark leggings didn’t look quite right, and the black shoes didn’t look quite right, as if I wasn’t paying enough attention to my attire.
So what are the best shoes to wear with navy blue leggings? Should I just go buy a pair of navy blue shoes? Let’s break it down.
Option 1: Pair Black Leggings and Black Shoes with a Navy Dress For years, the combination of black and navy has been considered a fashion no-no, but since Donna Karan mixed and matched the two colors a few seasons ago, the combination has become completely acceptable. The key is to make sure it looks deliberate. To do this, pair it with some black accessories – black jewelry like a chunky necklace or exaggerated earrings. If you need a blazer, choose one in a similar shade to your black shoes so that your overall look looks coherent.
Option 2: Dark Gray Heels Dark gray is a great choice with navy. The darker the gray, the better the match with the navy hue. Consider a pair of dark gray suede heels for a sophisticated and elegant look.
Option 3: Burgundy Heels This option is a bit unusual, but the effect is very eye-catching. Dark burgundy heels add a splash of color to a navy blue dress without clashing. For best results, try incorporating burgundy into other outfits, such as with a bag or ring of the same color, for a more coordinated look.
Option 4: Navy Blue Heels This option can be a little trickier, as you need to match the leggings and shoes perfectly with the skirt. It is indeed a bit difficult to find three navy blue pieces in the exact same color, but if you manage to do it, the result will be very elegant. The key is to make sure that the colors blend perfectly, and if handled correctly, you can create a stylish monochromatic look.
Good luck finding the perfect match! I ended up ditching the navy leggings in favor of flesh-colored nylon leggings – not as fun, but definitely practical.
