Now, the idea of talking about summer outfits seems a little ironic when we are in the midst of the current erratic weather in the UK. Summer seems to be wreaking havoc on Europe at full force, bringing us gales, torrential rain and even the occasional hailstorm. Against this backdrop, it’s hard to decide what to feature in this month’s Zera editorial. The first thing you’ll notice in their latest mini-collection is the clever use of transitional color palettes. While I’m in the midst of making plans for work and the fall and Christmas holidays, I’m not quite ready for my personal life. Therefore, for this edit, I’ve chosen pieces that show off the bright summer vibe, but are also suitable for someone preparing for a late vacation.
Interestingly, a recent retail survey I did revealed how quickly people’s mindsets can shift after a vacation. Of the 3,000 women surveyed, 64% said they couldn’t wait to trade in their summer brights for more neutral tones and simpler silhouettes as soon as they got home. As each of us may be at a different stage of the holiday cycle, I’ve put together transitional looks for the warmer, wetter days that many of us are experiencing in the UK right now. Oh, and don’t forget – all new season pieces are currently 20% off with promo code D4B6.
Let’s start with the classic and timeless blazer, Breton jacket and jeans combo. It’s a must-have item in most women’s closets, but the improved fit gives this piece a fresh and modern look. Wide-leg jeans, a slim-fit long blazer and red Mary Jane shoes are the star of this look. The shoes are not in stock yet, but I imagine they will sell out soon after they hit the shelves. Also, the jeans come in four different lengths, so you can choose depending on whether to wear them with flats or heels.

The high-waisted, wide-leg silhouette of these pants makes this classic look stand out-it’s a contemporary alternative to tapered pants.
Cotton shirt; sailor pants; loafers (coming soon)
When a short-sleeved top looks too cool for the workplace, I’ll opt for a piece like this long-sleeved blouse. The lace paneling is just the right balance of sweet and neutral, and it’s also available in a blue striped style. These pants will be available soon, and I’ve noticed that plaid and tweed are back in style for the fall/winter season. It’s a bit like the vintage trend of the mid-80’s – think early Next and Haircut 100. the higher end of the market has taken notice of this designer trend, and I’m going with the shift.

On a recent trip to London, I noticed another trend: silver ballet flats are all the rage. Fashionable women are swapping their sneakers for these metallic beauties, and silver is set to be a major trend for the rest of the year.

BTW, I’ve already bought this bikini because I’ve been looking for a bikini in this color. This weekend, all swimwear is 25% off, including new season and sale items with discount code D4B6.

I haven’t waited for the right weather to wear it yet (thank goodness I don’t need photographic proof), but it’s the same cut as the one I bought last year. This Holiday 2022 snapshot will give you an idea of how it fits. It’s a flattering style for those of us who aren’t particularly fit.

Summer Wear Inspiration
As I mentioned before, we’ve had an incredibly busy summer this year, so we won’t be able to enjoy a longer vacation until September or October. Until then, I’ll be making the most of these versatile pieces that can cope with the unpredictable summer weather in the UK while still keeping the festive spirit alive. If you’re also looking for some must-have pieces that you can wear across the seasons, then this guide to creating a Rachel Zane style capsule closet may inspire you. It’s the perfect way to simplify your style and stay on trend.
I’m clinging to the tail end of summer, so this month’s editorial is all about sunny days and carefree moments. Let me show you a few of my favorite pieces from Zera’s latest collection. These photos were taken in Newcastle last weekend when we visited my mother-in-law. This square neck linen dress is so comfortable to wear – it’s just the right length and doesn’t look bulky. I’m wearing a size 12R and it fits just right. The plaid pattern is made from two shades of blue, creating a denim-like effect that is very versatile. The drawstring back adds comfort, especially for those like us who plan to have our cake and eat it too!

We rushed to get these photos before it poured down – you can see the spectacular clouds reflected behind me. It’s not often that we get rainy days here in the Northeast, but last weekend seemed hell-bent on proving it. Luckily, the only day that mattered wasn’t rainy, and if you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know what I’m talking about. If not, I’ll be sharing more soon.

Next up are these gorgeous Sunrise Agave shades. If you know me, you know that pink and orange are my summer favorites. This outfit is perfect for work and weekend wear and is very versatile. Both outfits are made of linen, so I was initially worried that the pants wouldn’t be stretchy enough, so I ordered an extra size. While the pants fit well, I think I would have been better off in the size 12 I usually wear.
Linen top; high-waisted linen pants
The camisole top has the advantage of being slimming without showing too much skin. It’s a versatile piece that can easily be paired with jeans, shorts, and skirts, making it a summer must-have. This top is a great seller and if it’s out of stock, there’s a matching knit available that drapes even better. As you can see, we were lucky enough to enjoy a dry and sunny evening at home this week!

Right now, I’m in Somerset, getting ready to head to Cornwall for a long weekend. It’s quite a long drive for us, so we’ve decided to spend the night at a charming country pub just outside of Towton called the Greyhound Inn, so if you’re planning a similar trip, stop by for a night. The weather here is slightly warmer, so this outfit is perfect for a relaxed dinner. The cut of this tee is very flattering and striking – it’s just been restocked and I highly recommend it if you’re updating your white tee collection. The cotton/modal blend gives it a subtle sheen that’s perfect for formal or casual dressing, and the boatneck design is very flattering.

Zera’s website suggests sizing up one size for the skirt, and I’m glad I took the advice. The skirt drapes beautifully and the ruffles don’t stick out abruptly as they fall. The skirt is perfect for vacation, but I’ll also wear it around the house in cooler weather with sneakers, a cardigan, or a beige denim jacket. Sandals are the ultimate “go with everything” style. If, like me, you don’t find Birkenstocks easy to wear, then these sandals are a great alternative. These sandals run small, so if you wear a medium, we recommend going up a size. This sandal is also available in the classic black color.

Okay, I’m off. Today looks like it might be the best weather day of our trip, so I’m going to experience Cornwall in true British fashion – weaving in and out of summer showers. I think we’ll find solace in some of the best British food: pies, fish and chips, cream teas and ice cream. A weekend well spent!
